On August 6th I was able to revisit Shohei Imamura’s film about the aftermath of the bombings at Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Black Rain. Presented by the Pittsburgh group “Remembering Hiroshima, Imagining Peace,” the screening served as both a pallete cleanser for Christopher Nolan’s recent film Oppenheimer and an overdue reminder of Imamura’s mastery.
